How To Get Rid Of Dark Spots And Prevent Them

Beauty & Fashion Blog

Dark spots can happen to your face over time from a few different factors. Hormones play a role, but so does the sun and any acne issues as well. These dark spots can sometimes be covered with makeup, but they can be a bit of a pain to have to deal with. Lightening the dark spots is the best solution, and preventing them from returning (or new ones from occurring). See below for tips on how to get rid of your dark spots and prevention tips:

Use A Lightening Product

There are a number of skin lightening products on the market today that can be used. Try to look for something with salicylic acid that will help gently remove skin cells. Don't try to use bleach or anything harsh on your skin that can damage your skin cells. Talk to your dermatologist about which product may be best for your skin type and dark spots that you are dealing with.

Slough Off Dead Skin

Use a skin care treatment that helps to slough off dead skin using a microdermabrasion tool and a cleanser. There are a number of microdermabrasion tools you can buy. Be sure to use one that has different settings and will be gentle on your skin. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and don't over-use it. Discontinue it's use if your skin is red or irritated after use. You can also use a cleaner with micro-beads in it to help remove dead skin cells. Just as with the microdermabrasion tool, you shouldn't over-use this type of cleaner either.

Clean Out Pores

Clean out your pores using a daily cleanser both in the morning and before bed. Remove makeup before bed to prevent clogging your pores. When washing your face, use lukewarm water and cool water to rinse the face cleanser off. Cleaning your skin daily will help prevent acne breakouts. Be sure to leave your zits or pimples alone. Popping them can leave acne scars and dark spots.

Use Moisturizer And SPF

Use daily moisturizer on your face that is a little thicker to help keep your face hydrated and toned. Look for a moisturizer that also contains SPF to protect your skin daily from the sun. Anytime you're in the sun or outside, no matter the season, be sure to use SPF of at least 30 or more to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. The sun can cause dark spots on your skin, so using SPF daily will help prevent them from occurring.

Stay Covered

If you can't avoid the sun, using an SPF on your skin will help, and so can wearing a large floppy hat and sunglasses. Protect your face from the sun as much as possible.

Your skin should be taken care of to protect it from dark spots. Use the tips above to prevent dark spots and to help get rid of them.
